First conceived as illustrated characters by the cartoonist Rose O'Neill in 1909, early Kewpies were produced as Bisque dolls in Waltershausen, Germany, beginning in 1912.
Today, Kewpie Dolls are made of soft PVC plastic by the Japanese doll company Obistu, which was the inspiration for these brooches.
These brooches are made from 3mm acrylic with etched and painted detail.
